June 2020
Due to the current health context, seminars will not take place but we will welcome 2 residential studies, as well as our first photographer.
RESIDENTIAL STUDIES
Sophie Lalanne : « Le roman, la cité et l’Empire » (the Novel, the city-state and the empire)
The first Greek novels, composed by Chariton, Xenophon of Ephesus, Longus, Achilles Tatius, Heliodorus, provide an abundant source of information which covers approximately two hundred years of the history of the Roman Empire, from c. 50 to c. 250 AD. In a fictional universe crossed by a multitude of characters, novelists depict in a unique way Greek customs and offer a relatively precise description of the world of civic and village societies. This project is based on a triptych construction linking the novel, the city-state and the Empire.
RESIDENCIES
The photography Prize
Sylvie Hugues
At 12, Sylvie Hugues’ life radically changed. She then lived in Cullera in Spain. Her mother was murdered by her second husband, a Guardia Civil policeman. To the grief of mourning is added that of exile. Her project “El Pueblo” aims to build a book of texts and photographs to exorcise the demons of the past.
EXHIBITIONS
From June 26 to October 31, 2020, the Bemberg Foundation in Toulouse, chaired by Alfred Pacquement and directed by Philippe Cros, will welcome “On the other side of the dream”, an exhibition designed by Danièle Giraudy who selected twenty of the artists collected by Anne Gruner – Schlumberger. Surrealist painters, including Ernst and Brauner whom the founder particularly liked, African masks and jet weapons, immaculate dishes by Picasso, a flock of sheep created by Lalanne, no less than 130 works staged by Constance Guisset come to tie this dialogue of cultures, between creation and reflection, so essential to the Fondation des Treilles.
