Seminars

For a genetic critique of mathematics

This seminar organized by Emmylou Haffner and David Rabouin focuses on the first stages of mathematical activity, in particular drafts, texts left aside in the study of archives, to better understand the production of mathematical knowledge. The use of methods of genetic criticism, which have shown their fertility in literature, philosophy or linguistics, will allow both to better understand the history of mathematics, but also, and above all, to provide historiographical and epistemological tools and methods for more comprehensive analyses.

Studying epigenetic inheritance at the interface of developmental genetics and evolutionary biology

The workshop organized by Christian Braendle and his team aims to discuss and develop interdisciplinary approaches, both empirical and theoretical, to the evolution of epigenetic inheritance – ranging from perspectives in molecular, cellular and developmental genetics to those in ecology, population and quantitative genetics. Nematodes of the genus Caenorhabditis will be used as model organisms. [learn more]

Research residencies

The Meyers in Simard, Saône-et-Loire, 1940-1945, a family story of survival.

Jean-Marc Dreyfus plans to tell the story of his maternal Alsatian Jewish family who took refuge in a small village in Saône-et-Loire, Simard, during the Second World War. The aim will be to integrate the story into various recent perspectives of the historiography of the period, from the microhistory of the Shoah to the new history of the Resistance, with a reflection on the position of the historian faced not with the writing of oneself, but with that of one’s family.
